Korine co-scripted with Avi Korine, this tells the story of a Parisian Michael Jackson impersonator (Luna) who falls for a beautiful Marilyn Monroe (Morton) who brings Michael back to her home in the Scottish Highlands where she lives in a commune with other impersonators, including her husband, Charlie Chaplin (a menacing Denis Levant), The Queen of England (Anita Pallenberg), Abraham Lincoln (Richard Strange) and others. A subtle bit of casting reminds us of Mr. Korine’s early reputation as an enfant terrible of American independent cinema: Leos Carax, once the enfant terrible of French cinema, plays the psychiatrist of Luna’s Michael Jackson impersonator. In a parallel story, Latin American priest Umbrillo (Werner Herzog) and a plane full of nuns find a new way to fly.
