Exclusive: In Bruges Trailer + Pics

Posted by Eric Lavallee on Nov 22, 2007

Where's Bruges? What is Bruges? Think a smaller Amsterdam without the illegal stuff replaced by fries, beer and postcard setting. Just a couple of days ago, the Sundance Film Fest announced the opening film for their 2008 edition - the to-be-released on February 8th hit man/comedy by Focus Features is the feature film debut from Martin McDonagh (the winner for Oscar for best short film Six Shooter). While many of you are enjoying your turkey or faux-turkey, I'm thinking that In Bruges might be anything but that. We've got the exclusive first look at the official trailer, plus a pair of pics for you below.

Written by McDonagh, this tells the story of hit men Ray and Ken, (Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, respectively) who, after a badly botched job in London, are ordered by their boss, Harry (Fiennes), to cool their heels in the bucolic city of Bruges, Belgium. Very much out of their comfort zones, the men find themselves drawn into increasingly dangerous entanglements with locals, tourists, and a film shoot. When their stay in Bruges takes a turn for the worst, Ray and Ken realize Harry may have plans for them other than a simple vacation.

Look for more of IONCINEMA.com's coverage of In Bruges at Sundance.

Review: V/H/S

Review: V/H/S

"Overall, V/H/S is a slick and fun little romp of offerings from some newer voices in horror cinema. A much publicized incident of a couple vomiting and suffering seizures during the premier screening at Sundance 2012 may have has more to do with altitude sickness rather than disturbing imagery, as most of what occurs is quite tame by today’s horror standards. But the two standout elements of the anthology are the book ends."

Interview: Daniel Mulloy (Baby)

Brit Daniel Mulloy is an award-winning short filmmaker (over 80 fest awards folks) who belongs to both the extended Sundance filmmaking family and a celluloid loving family of his own -- we've featured his sister Lucy and her debut film, Una Noche which is headed off to Berlin next month. We've been keeping tabs on the helmer since 2006's "Antonio’s Breakfast," and it was last year where I got to speak to Mulloy about what should be the last of a string of shorts, before he embarks on the feature filmmaking portion of his career.
