Times Squared: Focus Features Have Penthouse View of Vasilis Katsoupis’ “Inside”

A title that we thought might break into Cannes or Venice will probably instead be considered for the upcoming Sundance or Berlinale line-ups as the Focus Features folks have landed Vasilis KatsoupisInside and are planning a March 10th theatrical drop.

Katsoupis’ debut feature film (in the fiction form) is a groovy-sounding psychological thriller and pretty much solo acting piece for Willem Dafoe. Production took place in Germany last summer and has a lot of Greek producers on board including Heretic’s Giorgos Karnavas – who produced the project alongside Marcos Kantis, and Dries Phlypo. Ben Hopkins (who might also has Limonov: The Ballad of Eddie coming out in 2023) wrote the screenplay based on an original idea by Katsoupis.

This tells the story of Nemo (Dafoe), an art thief trapped in a New York penthouse after his heist doesn’t go as planned. Locked inside with nothing but priceless works of art, he must use all his cunning and invention to survive.
