2026 TIFF: Naishtat, Rachel Morrison & Bassam Tariq World Premieres Added; Zellners Heading to Venice

Date:

Five Special Presentations programme titles have been added to Toronto, four of them are world premieres and one is heading over to the Lido. The Zellner Bros. will indeed be heading over to Venice with Alpha Gang – the tale about aliens who arrive on Earth seeking to destroy but they soon find themselves compromised with human emotions features the likes of Cate Blanchett, Chris Pine, Dave Bautista, Léa Seydoux, Lily-Rose Depp, Adria Arjona, Doona Bae, and Kelvin Harrison Jr. has to be one of the big acquisition titles available this fall.

Of the five-some we are most excited for the new work from Argentinian filmmaker Benjamín Naishtat who brings Glaxo to the fest. We recently featured the tale of revenge as a possible TIFF option. Rachel Morrison makes it two for two at TIFF, rom drama Love of Your Life landing a prestige spot – the Amazon MGM Studios project features Margaret Qualley and Patrick Schwarzenegger. Montreal filmmaker Ben Shirinian receives premium showcase status for his directorial debut in The Housewife which features Naomi Watts, Tye Sheridan, Michael Imperioli, and Luke Evans in the tale of a young New York Times journalist who tracks down a potential Nazi officer living secretly in Queens, New York. This is a NEON title. And we figured that with a September release date that Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother was in the running. Bassam Tariq‘s film is toplined by Mahershala Ali. Stay tuned for massive TIFF updates next week with selections being unveiled on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
