Lee Chang-dong – Possible Love

For his seventh feature film, Korean master filmmaker Lee Chang-dong’s presents an even slower burn than his previous, 2018 master work Burning. One year after fellow South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook brought his portrait of a working man navigating a world of layoffs with No Other Choice, the Lido saw a deep dive into class, labor, desire and emotional exploitation with the Silver Lion winning Possible Love. After premieres at Venice, TIFF and NYFF, this will be showcased at the BFI London Film Fest before launching theatrically October 23rd and then November 6th via Netflix. At a press conference for the film at the 2026 Venice Film Festival I had the chance to ask the master filmmaker the following question:

Eric Lavallée is the founder, CEO, editor-in-chief, film journalist, and critic at IONCINEMA.com, established in 2000. A regular at Sundance, Cannes, and Venice, Eric holds a BFA in film studies from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. In 2013, he served on the narrative competition jury at the SXSW Film Festival. He was an associate producer on Mark Jackson’s "This Teacher" (2018 LA Film Festival, 2018 BFI London). He is a Golden Globes Voter, member of the ICS (International Cinephile Society), FIPRESCI and AQCC (Association québécoise des critiques de cinéma).
