IFC places Abdellatif Kechiche’s masterpiece under the Tree

Date:

Xmas is sizing up to be a great time for movie-watching with The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Waltz with Bashir and Revolutionary Road unwrapping themselves before us for the holiday season, but it’s the extra present in Abdellatif Kechiche’s third film that was just added to the tree that is perhaps the best of gifts for cinephiles. I unwrapped The Secret of the grain (La Graine et le mulet) back in the month of July – let me tell you there is a reason why the 2 plus hour film has garnered a slew of critic and jury awards. When I asked Kechiche back in October if a December rollout in the States was the real deal, even the filmmaker had no clue. But a screening invite from one of Gotham’s best publicists has pretty much confirmed that IFC will finish off the calendar year with the theater rollout and on-demand showing this coming December 24th.
