Day 6: Live from Cannes: The Brinks of Society aplenty in ‘Silence of Lorna’

One can always count on the Dardenne bros. to deliver human drama narratives that take place in cityscapes, and that by a regular count of hands, would find that many people are unaware exists. I find myself marveled by those who live in these worlds, and with The
Silence of Lorna
we are reminded of the fragility of liberty and the freedoms (and passports) we might take for granted. Today’s early morning screening for the Dardennes now 4th official entry into a Cannes film festival proves that there are business ventures and practices that exploit desperate people and here the protagonist has a pair of loose lips. Getting into hot water and the difficult task of grabbing hold of a prosperous future versus keeping your morals intact weigh heavy on one person’s shoulders. [Note: Full review coming soon].
