The Night Watchman Top 100

#93.The Night Watchman

Director: David Ayer
Writers: Kurt Wimmer, Jamie Moss and James Ellroy
Producers
: Lucas Foster (Jumper), Alexandra Milchan (Righteous Kill), Erwin Stoff (A Scanner Darkly)
Distributor: Fox Searchlight Pictures

The Gist: Set in Los Angeles in the early ’90s, the project is described as being in the vein of Ellroy’s “L.A. Confidential”. Reeves plays a member of an elite group of LAPD cops who questions the ruthless tactics he has used to become such an effective force in solving murders and battling gang violence and drugs.

Fact: Spike Lee and Oliver Stone were once attached to direct the picture.

See It: Though Harsh Times was a brilliant mess – I’m expecting Ayer to fully deliver the goods with this contemporary set, L.A crime thriller with Keanu sporting shades once again!

Release Date/Status?: An April 11th date has just been set by Fox Searchlight.
