Gyllenhall & Biel ‘Nailed’ by David O. Russell

Date:

Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel are being lined up for the leading roles in David O. Russell's latest, the political satire Nailed. O'Russell is attached to direct, as well as co-write the screenplay with Kristin Gore- who happens to be Al Gore's daughter.

This is based Gore's first novel, “Sammy's Hill”. Biel would play Sammy Joyce, a socially awkward small-town receptionist who has a nail accidentally shot into her head by a clumsy workman, eliciting wild sexual urges. The uninsured Joyce goes on a crusade to Washington to fight for the rights of the bizarrely injured. She meets an immoral congressman (Gyllenhaal) who takes advantage of her sex drive and capitalizes on her crusade as Joyce heads into her own career in politics.

Red Wagon Entertainment (Jarhead) and Persistent Entertainment (Southland Tales), will produce the project which starts pre-production in two weeks. Filming is scheduled to start in January.

David O. Russell  is an interesting filmmaker- Three Kings remains the best film made about Iraq to date, despite predating the second Iraq war by several years, and his last film-I ♥ Huckabees was unfairly maligned by critics. Despite being one of the better young actors working today, I'm not to keen on Jake Gyllenhaal playing an amoral congressman, as he seems a tad young for the role. Biel on the other hand seems like an inspired choice for her role.
