TIFF 2010: Midnight Madness Selections: Carpenter, Brad Anderson, Gunn, Wan

Joining these selections which I posted about 12 hours ago, this year's Midnight Madness is definitely heavy in U.S genre films which include Brad Anderson's not so well kept secret The Vanishing on 7th Street, James Wan's Insidious and the lesser known Stake Land from Jim Mickle.

TIFF 2010: Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s Peers Featured in City to City

If you're into film studies by region, then TIFF's City to City series might be a worthy sidebar initiative. It began last year with the country of Israel, which proved to be a basterdized first choice -- as the selection was deemed a political one by the media and certain filmmakers from the other side of the "fence". TIFF 2010: Massy Tadjedin’s Last Night Grabs Closing Night Slot

I often mentioned how this was a Helen Mirren type of year, but Keira Knightley is challenging the silverscreen status with three titles which include Never Let Me Go, London Boulevard and the TIFF closer in Massy Tadjedin's Last Night (formerly known as Tell Me).

TIFF 2010: Special Pres. Include: 127 Hours, Hereafter, I’m Still Here, The Last Circus, Let Me In & What’s Wrong with Virginia

We'll find out exactly at the beginning of next month, what Telluride manages to steal from the world premiere mentions below, but regardless of world preem status, TIFF this year is BIG. In the award season contention list, TIFF have stole the thunder from NYFF by adding Clint Eastwood's Hereafter and the always welcomed helmer Danny Boyle is bringing 127 Hours - this one is Telluride bound you can smell it.
