Start Me Up!: Cannes Director’s Fortnight Selections

In the list we find three items on my "Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of the Year in: Fabienne Berthaud's Pieds nus sur les limaces (see pic of Diane Kruger above), Cam Archer's Shit Year and Alistair Banks Griffin's debut film, Two Gates Of Sleep. Also included in the section is a doc-essay film from Michelangelo Frammartino that I'll be itching to see as well. Of the veteran auteurs, we have works from Christoffer Boe, Jean-Paul Civeyrac, old school High School doc filmmaker Frederik Wiseman and look for the Rolling Stones to be on hand for Stephen Kijak's Stones In Exile..

To be known as Heartbreaker stateside, the rom com will receive not only a NYC preem at Tribeca, but an eventual day-and-date release via IFC Films.

49th Critic’s Week Selections: Quentin Dupieux’s Rubber and Marc Fitoussi’s Copacabana Make the Cut

Among the more interesting picks in the titles mentioned above, we have scribe Rebecca Zlotowski's directing debut with the pairing of some hot French thesps in Léa Seydoux and Anaïs Demoustier, there is David Robert Mitchell's SXSW entry that gets a second life via this section and another Swedish-French production is hitting the section this year, with what appears to be an awfully unique project from Ola Simonsson & Johannes Stjärne Nilsson.

Sony Pictures Classics Part of Charles Ferguson’s ‘Inside Job’

Days after being announced as part of Cannes' Special Screening selections (mostly a mix of documentary films), now comes the press release announcement that Sony Pictures Classics have been an integral part of the production to Charles Ferguson latest documentary. Titled Inside Job, Ferguson who tackled the much-maligned U.S foreign policy in No End in Sight, takes a closer look at what brought about the financial meltdown with Matt Damon narrating.
