Dunst’s Bastard and Franco’s The Clerk’s Tale Close Critic’s Week

Spiderman co-stars Kirsten Dunst and James Franco will each be presenting both of their short films on the closing night of Critic's Week in Cannes. Franco's 13-minute short The Clerk's Tale will receive its world premiere screening and the pics for the short are sublime as they are 1970's magazine-like in their look. The short, which I imagine Franco filmed as part of his work at NYU is based on the eponymous poem by Spencer Reece, The Clerk's Tale is a psychological portrait of a gay man trapped in the monotonous routine of life at a high-end menswear store.

Filmmakers Award and part of Cannes' Atelier de la Cinefondation, this is set in 1982's Buenos Aires, close to the end of the military dictatorship and focuses on the tensions between teachers and students. Picco - Philip Koch. German debut from Koch is actually based on true events, PICCO is the first picture to shed light on the every-day life of youth prison inmates in Germany and shows in a gripping and merciless way that the contemporary judiciary system is by no means able to properly re-educate these lost youths...

Alegria (Joy) Marina Méliande and Felipe Braganca. Braganca who we know from 2006's Love for Sale, teams up on a project which you can get a better feel for if you check out this picture and if you read portuguese. All Good Children - Alicia Duffy. This Brit debut promises to hit you where it hurts.
