Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2010: Gus Van Sant’s Restless

It may be a studio project, but my feeling is this may be closer to his indie work, than Finding Forrester. He employs Harris Savides for his specialty theme: coming-of-age films. I'll also be curious about the new batch of actors whose lineage is tied to seminal American actors (Dennis Hooper and Sissy Spacek).

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2010: Fabienne Berthaud’s Pieds Nus sur les Limaces

Adapting a film from your own novel appears to be a arduous task, but if Berthaud pulls it off and combines her fly on the wall aesthetic from her debut film, we could have some a strong drama that won't be flying under the radar by year's end. It also facilitates the process when you're re-teaming with an actor that backed your first project (Kruger).

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2010: Spencer Susser’s Hesher

This is Susser's directorial debut, and if we base ourselves on his 2008 short I Love Sarah Jane, we may just have a diamond in the rough. Love the destructive nature of the lead character and look forward in seeing how this film treats the weird rapport between friendship and bullying - which is featured front, right and center in this film.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2010: Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours

When Renton was boxed in a flat for de-tox, we had narration and a zippy soundtrack to keep us company, but here, Boyle plans to give the film the silent treatment in the first 60. I've got no concerns as to if Boyle will succeed in the visual treatment of the story, but it'll be interesting how he approaches the whole man vs. nature and life vs. death aspects via a James Franco who'll have to express his inner thoughts beyond grimaces. The most talked about scene of the year might be in this pic when the major decision of body disfigurement is made.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2010: Troy Nixey’s Don’t Be Afraid Of the Dark

Del Toro's prodigy this time out is the helmer behind the short Latchkey's Lament. I'm not sure if this is a project that'll make a name for Troy Nixey, but seek out his short on the web and you'll see why he got the chance to direct this remake.
