Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2010: Mark Ruffalo’s Sympathy for Delicious

Ruffalo's film school consists of working under Michael Mann, Spike Jonze, Martin Scorsese, David Fincher and Ang Lee, so when a passion project between him and good friend Thornton finally comes to fruition, one has to wonder whether the prior work can help mold the actor as a helmer. The project certainly doesn't feel cookie-cutter, so could this be a feel good film in spandex, metalhead clothing?

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2010: Philip Seymour Hoffman’s Jack Goes Boating

He probably found confidence in seeing another broadway play in Doubt making a pretty good transition to the big screen, and there is a distinct feeling we are going meta here with the role found in Synecdoche, New York. I don't think we need to mention the filmmakers he's worked with, but one thing is assured: Hoffman gives it his all as an actor and is among the top 5 working actors of the 90's and 00's -- so I expect the same commitment behind the camera.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2010: Nicole Holofcener’s Please Give

Fifty years from now when folks will be curious about how the modern day woman lived, how they did their "Walking and Talking" they'll just have to have themselves a Nicole Holofcener festival. You appreciate her for how she examines different neurosis among the estrogen segment of the population and her employment of go-to muse Catherine Keener. I'm guessing this is a continuation of the central theme examined in Olivier Assayas's Summer Hours.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2010: William Monahan’s London Boulevard

For every In Bruges, there are about 30 gangster films rehashing tired plots, and while London Boulevard treads familiar waters, it might actually have a lot more to say about celebrity than what we might be anticipating. On both the The Black List and Brit List, I'm curious about what the scribe behind Scorsese's The Departed can do when behind the camera.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2010: Richard J. Lewis’s Barney’s Version

If the film somehow retains the complex nature (narrator) of the novel, then I think we'll understand why this project which has been in the works for more than a decade. A great ensemble lead by Paul Giamatti and cameos from David Cronenberg and Atom Egoyan should make this a savory blend.
