You can write them off collectively for some of their most recent efforts, but in terms of craft, the pairing of Tom Tykwer and the Wachowski duo might be well-suited for sci-fi aesthetics, but the major apprehension lies in how they'll manage to string the six stories into the fashion laid out in the novel. This might be the year's most ambitious book adaptation.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2012: #94. The Gangster Squad
Among the very few studio projects on this top 100 list, we're picking this one for the obvious dream cast (Gosling, Penn, Brolin) and the era that it is set in (less than a decade before L.A. Confidential). Our guys with guns guilty pleasure of the year is helmed by Ruben Fleischer - this is his third outing after Zomebieland and 30 Minutes or Less.
Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2012: #95. David O. Russell’s The Silver Linings Playbook
Honestly we're a bit peeved by the entire Nailed situation, but if this comedy contains some of the humor elements we've previously enjoyed from O. Russell's dark comedies such as Flirting with Disaster and I Heart Huckabees then we are good to go.
Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2012: #96. Hal Hartley’s Meanwhile
Whit Stillman makes a new film. Check. Hal Hartley is moments away from completing his first (feature) film since Fay Grim. Check. It's almost fitting that U.S indie icons Stillman and Hartley will release their films this year, and while Hartley's film output is more vast, I'd be curious to know production dollar difference there is between his debut 1989 film, The Unbelievable Truth and this comedy partially financed via Kickstarter. This looks and sounds funny.
