Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2011: Bennett Miller’s Moneyball

They've got a pretty good director in Bennett Miller and I'm liking the casting (Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jonah Hill) they did for the film and though I think I might have preferred Soderbergh's version of the film, I'm still a fan of the Lewis novel and look forward in seeing how a sports dramedy might pan out.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2011: Bela Tarr’s The Turin Horse

It's moved up several spots from last year's 33 position and this might have to do with the fact we've learned absolutely nothing about the project over the course of 12 months. You have to be impressed by how tight-lipped they've been about this being his last picture.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2011: Juan Solanas’ Upside Down

You can say that filmmaking is in his blood, and while I haven't seen Juan Diego Solanas' debut film, I had the chance to finally catch up with his short film The Man Without a Head. If the look of the film is full-proof eye-candy, which I have no doubt will be stirring and the chemistry between Kirsten Dunst and Jim Sturgess works, this might break out of the mold of underwhelming sci-fi romance films.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2011: Duplass Bros.’ Jeff Who Lives at Home

Specialists of a comedy that is both affecting and discomforting, in 2011, the Duplass Bros.' should be a double bearing of fruit type year as they have The Do-Deca-Pentathlon, which appears closer to their indie/mumblecore no-budget beginnings and they must now be past the post-production phase with this project which features name talent and has a studio backing the project and will likely draw comparisons to their excellent foray into "bigger" budgets with Cyrus.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2011: Julian Farino’s The Oranges

From the same family of films as Nothing is Private and American Beauty, my thinking is that plenty of folks will dig the tone of yet another BlackList screenplay I've got on this list. Cast comprised by Leighton Meester, Hugh Laurie, Catherine Keener, Alia Shawkat, Adam Brody, Allison Janney and Oliver Platt should be rather entertaining.
