Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2013: #47. David O. Russell’s American Bullshit

Director: David O. Russell
Writer(s): Eric Singer
Producer(s): Megan Ellison, Charles Roven, Richard Suckle
U.S. Distributor: Columbia Pictures
Cast: Christian Bale, Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper

Eric Singer’s screenplay ranked #8 on 2010’s Blacklist between Margin Call and Argo, the formerly titled American Bullshit is now highly touted the moment David O. Russell joined the project – as you can’t get more of a confidence booster than the rollout and critical reception for The Silver Linings Playbook (pic above). On board:  Christian Bale, Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper and just added, Louis C.K. This should be an awards mentioned title at the end of the 2013 campaign.

Gist: An FBI sting operation in the 1970s called Abscam leads to the conviction of United States Congressmen.

Release Date: Still in pre-production, this will receive a huge festival platform in the fall, Columbia Pictures will then select a logical theatrical, awards-season friendly release date.
