On Set Spat: Amalric, Gainsbourg, Cotillard & Garrel Desplechin’s “Les Fantomes d’Ismaël”

Date:

Charlotte Gainsbourg, Marion Cotillard, Louis Garrel and often used muse Mathieu Amalric are part of the heavyweight cast we expect to see in Arnaud Desplechin‘s ninth feature film, Les Fantomes d’Ismaël. Screen Daily confirmed that the Why Not Productions production will being shortly (we imagine after Desplechin completes Cannes Film Fest jury duty).

Gist: This is about a filmmaker whose life is sent into a tailspin by the return of a former lover just as he is about to embark on the shoot of a new film.

Worth Noting: Mathieu Amalric and Louis Garrel both appeared in Valeria Bruni Tedeschi’s Actrices (2007). Amalric and Cotillard (she had a bit part) both appeared in Desplechin’s My Sex Life… or How I Got Into an Argument.

Do We Care?: Chalk this up as one of our most anticipated film items of 2017 and mark this down as a Main Comp entry for Cannes next year.
