2013 Cannes Film Festival Predictions: Gotz Spielmann’s Oktober, November

Date:

#77. Gotz Spielmann’s Oktober, November

Gist: An estranged family comes together in a guest house in the Alps after a father’s ailing health necessitates a reunion. Two very different sisters, one a successful actress living in Berlin, the other who has never left her small town, agree to come together to deal with what appears to be a painful family history.

Prediction: Considering the critical praise heaped on Spielmann’s last film, 2008’s Revanche (which premiered in Berlin), it’s no surprise that his long gestating next feature has been on many highly anticipated lists since then. While we think there’s a good chance this could be held for a premiere in Venice later in the year, if it gets selected at Cannes we’re thinking a slot in the Main Competition.
