J.D. Dillard’s Sweetheart | 2019 Sundance Film Festival

Seeing that he signed up for Sweetheart not that long after Sleight had premiered at Sundance in 2016, we now understand why the Blumhouse project took a bit more time in post than originally thought — and that has everything to do with the thing Kiersey Clemons’ character meets in the dark on….a not so deserted island. J.D. Dillard‘s survivalist tale played well for the Midnight folks. Here is the post-screening Q&A that took place on January 28th at the Library Center Theatre.

Eric Lavallée is the founder, CEO, editor-in-chief, film journalist, and critic at IONCINEMA.com, established in 2000. A regular at Sundance, Cannes, and Venice, Eric holds a BFA in film studies from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. In 2013, he served on the narrative competition jury at the SXSW Film Festival. He was an associate producer on Mark Jackson’s "This Teacher" (2018 LA Film Festival, 2018 BFI London). He is a Golden Globes Voter, member of the ICS (International Cinephile Society) and AQCC (Association québécoise des critiques de cinéma).
