In minor AFM acquisition announcement, Magnet Releasing has picked up North American rights to what appears to be early calender filler (Dec.6th on VOD early theatrical release in January) in horror-meister Brit helmer Johannes Roberts’ Storage 24 – a pic starring Noel Clarke and Antonia Campbell-Hughes (from the Cannes preemed The Other Side of Sleep).
Gist: Set in a chaotic London – a military cargo plane has crashed leaving its highly classified contents strewn across the city. Completely unaware London is in lockdown, Charlie (Noel Clarke) and Shelley (Antonia Campbell-Hughes), accompanied by best friends Mark (Colin O’Donoghue) and Nikki (Laura Haddock) are at Storage 24 dividing up their possessions after a recent break-up. Suddenly, the power goes off…
Worth Noting: While The Guardian four-star review that calls the flick “unexpectedly entertaining,” majority of critics downgrade the pic and with lack of any significant festival play this doesn’t appear to be a break-out flick a la Meadows or Wheatley.
Do We Care?: Excluding this title, the recent series of premium film festival pick-ups from Venice and TIFF (Here Comes the Devil, Kiss of the Damned, The ABCs of Death) means we can expect a lean and mean year from the Magnet label.
