Michael Hazanavicius, the filmmaker who had to make the OSS comedies before even having a chance to make his passion project is undoubtably all smiles — apart from couple of very low scores, the public and acclaim critical didn’t topple the top film currently on our charts in the Dardenne Bros.’ latest exercise, but film lovers are surely going to come out in droves in France and it’ll be interesting to see how the rest of the world respond to a film with title cards and sans subtitles. Picked up by the Weinsteins during the fest, we might be talking about The Artist come awards season…much in the same way we discussed the no verbal per in Woody Allen’s Sweet & Lowdown.
