A ‘Dream’ Pact between IFC and Celluloid Dreams

With ambitious plans to offer almost 100 titles per year via their (that’s almost 2 a week folks!), Variety reports that their Festival Direct label is expanding by swallowing up a large portion of Celluloid Dreams’ current sales slate.

Here’s a bit of news that proves that IFC’s video-on-demand service is not only making a buck, but has become a premiere outlet for bringing difficult to market film festival fair to cinephiles’ footsteps. With ambitious plans to offer almost 100 titles per year via their (that’s almost 2 a week folks!), Variety reports that their Festival Direct label is expanding by swallowing up a large portion of Celluloid Dreams’ current sales slate. The 10 title deal includes pics from the fests like TIFF, Venice and Cannes including the highly-praised Hirokazu Koreeda film Still Walking, Caroline Link‘s A Year Ago in Winter, Thomas Vinterberg‘s When a Man Comes Home, White Night Wedding, All Around Us, Duane Hopkins’ Better ThingsBirdwatchers, Mark of an Angel, The Wave and the needs-more-editing Plastic City (see picture). All the pics will unfold in 2009 and surely pass thru their Gotham-based art-house theater for a one week run.
