Date:

#3. At Ellen’s Page

Director: Pia Marais
Cast: Jeanne Balibar, Stefan Stern, Georg Friedrich, Julia Hummer, Alexander Scheer
Distributor: Rights Available.

BuzzWorking with a whacky premise that includes a portion that was recently mimicked in real life by the infamous Jetblue employee leaving his post, Jeanne Balibar toplines with a character who does a 180 degree flip on her life. Pia Marais’ debut film The Unpolished (07) won Rotterdam’s Tiger Award, and her sophomore film gets a slot in TIFF’s Vanguard section – which basically announces that a singular vision from a South African-born Swedish director is to be expected. The project, a Cannes Cinéfondation selected film just preemed at the Locarno FF.

The Gist: A German flight attendant falls into increasingly bizarre adventures when she leaves her husband, quits her job and joins a radical group of animal activists.
