August bout in April: Pineapple Express vs. Tropic Thunder

Date:

Studio heads took notice a couple of years back that the month of
August might be an ideal spot to launch: the R-rated comedy. The month known for  the least desirable summer fair significantly changed  when Judd Apatow released The 40 Year-Old
Virgin
. Then as a producer, he used almost the same slot almost day for day for the release of Super Bad in 07′. With May, June and July representing popcorn flick season for superhero, big-budget disaster flicks, the final month of summer and back to school season is now deemed as prime real-estate and Columbia Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures are commencing their grassroots campaigns in the month of April with the very recent first look at the poster artwork.

Joblo.com got the exclusive first look for the poster for David Gordon Green’s first mainstream project with The Pineapple
Express
and then IESB.net netted the banner poster for Tropic Thunder. Stoner flick vs. war movie gone mad….I’m seeing both!
