I’m referring to actress Monia Chokri who had the great fortune of being sprinkled with gold dust, offered the Jeanne Moreau with touches of Jackie O role in Xavier Dolan’s stylized sophomore feature. Her character – an eccentric highly articulated femme fatale is easily the film’s more interesting character – and now Chokri is on her way to a very long and prosperous career on the local Quebecois scene with possibilities of moving onto the market in France. Heartbeats will be shown stateside this year and this will have a long film festival life that Dolan’s debut film had.
