Day 6: Live from Cannes: A Menage a Trois that works in ‘Two Lovers’

Last night’s Debussy theater was filled to capacity for the 10:30p.m. screening for Two Lovers (James Gray quick to release project coming off the heals of We Own the Night which played here last year) and midday today (Tuesday) was the follow up press conference and photographer frenzy. I have to say (though I’ve yet to see Gray’s debut film Little Odessa)

Last night’s Debussy theater was filled to capacity for the 10:30p.m. screening for Two Lovers  (James Gray quick to release project coming off the heals of We Own the Night which played here last year) and midday today (Tuesday) was the follow up press conference and photographer frenzy. I have to say (though I’ve yet to see Gray’s debut film Little Odessa), I’m declaring this as his best work – a well managed screenplay, tackled efficiently (though I’d trim the final 5 minute sequence that takes place after “the beach” and simply looks great aesthetically. Very believable set of circumstance’s for Joaquin Phoenix who couldn’t make it to Cannes this year due to an illness. Below are some shots I took today – Paltrow simply stunning and Vinessa Shaw looks nice in a browner hair color shades. [Note: Full review coming soon].
