Fantasia CR: Evil Aliens

With one of the most animated audience reactions I’ve seen at this year’s festival comes English director Jake West’s offering to the god’s of Stonehenge, Evil Aliens.

Malevolent creatures invade earth to cross-breed with humans and wreak havoc. Enter a patchwork of quirky characters that just can’t seem to get out of their way.

Evil Aliens is actually quite informational. For instance, I wasn’t aware that to aliens, the human colon is the galactic equivalent of a pencil sharpener. I was also surprised to learn that testing a new showerhead is a lot like having sex with hot E.T.’s. In spite of a few creative flourishes, Evil Aliens seems mostly content to take every cliché of alien visitation and render it in comically gory detail.

All of this makes Evil Aliens an entertaining hour and a half in and of itself. Ultimately however, the film’s shortage of original ideas renders it disposable.
