Just launched today, FilminFocus.com is a site that as I initially see has plenty of potential – so I'm pointing our faithful readers to check out the site fro themselves. What I see in Focus Features' new online venture is a hybrid of sorts: it includes Focus-product placement, articles from the film history vault and interviews with a larger number of people in the business or in the creative fields.
Some might say that many of the articles are extending the life of many of their 2007 released films – namely pieces on Atonement, Lust, Caution and Eastern Promises – but I'd point out that it doesn't come across as shameless promo. Focus are in great hands – editors from Filmmaker magazine will add content to the site and they have signed some partnerships which should add different forms of content. I'm looking forward to seeing if this becomes a personal daily pit stop for your editor in chief.
