A young, morpheus actor who’s not afraid of creepy roles will join thespian forces with an old fart whose on his second “wind” in the highly anticipated Christian Alvart claustrophobic sci-fi thriller, PandorumBen Foster and Dennis Quaid will take on the leads as two crewmen who awake onboard a spacecraft, unaware of who they are and what they’re supposed to be doing.  What follows is a discovery that  threatens all of humankind.  Its no question that Foster will be able to take on such a dark and psychologically thrilling role after recent stints as a psychotic junkie in Alpha Dog, a psychotic vampire snack in 30 Days of Night and a psychotic killer in 3:10 to Yuma.

But will Quaid be able to carry his weight?  Following his breakthrough role as the closeted 1950s husband in Todd HaynesFar From Heaven that relaunched his career, Quaid has been stepping up his game.  Most recently, the actor took on another more interesting role as the depressed, middle-aged professor and widower in Smart People.  But with Foster by his side, Quaid will have quite a challenge before him.

German director Alvart made his US debut with Antibodies when it played at Tribeca 2005.  An American remake of horror/thriller is in store for 2010.  Alvart recently wrapped another horror/thriller, Case 39, starring Renee Zellweger as a social worker who gets entangled with a dangerous foster family.  The pic will be released in April of 2009.

Constantin and Impact will produce Pandorum, with Summit Entertainment handling international sales and introducing the project to Cannes.  Overture Films will handle the domestic releasing.

Foster appeared in Birds of America with Ginnifer Goodwin at Sundance and will appear later this year in the war romance The Messenger alongside Jena Malone.  Quaid will again play a widower as a detective in the mystery/thriller The Horsemen, to be released in August.  Quaid is currently filming the apocalyptic thriller Legion and highly hyped G.I. Joe, both to be released in 2009.
