OCD sufferers take heart. Samuel L. Jackson is coming to the rescue. The defeator of slinky serpents at 20,000 feet is set to clean up again in the upcoming flick for director Renny Harlin titled The Cleaner. Not to be confused with the Cedric the Entertainer comedy pic Codename: The Cleaner, Jackson’s project is a thriller involving murder, corruption, and the anguish of obsessive compulsive disorder.

The plot revolves around Tom (Jackson), a man whose obsession with cleanliness is channeled into his work as a crime scene cleaner. Tom works with police in cleaning up after brutal crimes, a nasty job that seems uneventful until he stumbles into a scene that is actually a murder cover up. Ed Harris is set to play a detective who, with Jackson, is drawn into a web of mystery and deceit that threatens to bring Tom’s dark family secrets to light. Harris was most recently seen in “Copying Beethoven” is also slated to star in the upcoming pics “Gone, Baby, Gone” and “Winston.” Co-starring with the two heavyweights is newcomer Keke Palmer (“Akeelah and the Bee”).

Harlin has been tapped by Anonymous Content to helm the flick, set to begin filming in January in Shreveport, LA at the end of January. Harlin is best known for tepid sequels and lackluster star wagons. The director is said to be looking forward to Cleaner as a means to express himself with a film that is not laden with sfx. The director is known as well for being determined to work both sides of the lens, appearing in each of his previous films as either stunt double or extra. Indie slater Anonymous Content also includes Sundance selection “Smiley Face” and Renee Zellweger starrer “Case 39.”
