IONCINEMA.com presents: The Top 100 Must See films of 2008 (100-81)

Date:

January is notably known as a slow month for film. Oscar campaigns are being worked up, studios dump projects for a quick buck. What lies ahead are 11 months loaded with promising films from veteran filmmakers to the directorial debut from aspiring voices.

In a given week there can be about 10 film releases: this includes the small film on a micro exhibition budget being featured in a theater in Gotham to the multiplex flick getting a 4000 screen release. So for the next 5 days, IONCINEMA.com is unveiling the Top 100 Most Anticipated Films to watch out for in 2008. This acts as a guide that (much like last year’s list) gives our readers a quick idea of the what, the who, the when and the why of what is worth your entertainment dollars, and if you enjoy auteur theory then you’ll see notice some habitual names that we promote here on the site.

You won’t find many remakes, sequels or comic book heroes in this 100, but rather, original material and book to screen adaptations from visionaries (filmmakers, screenwriters, producers) from both sides of the Atlantic and an eclectic mix of art-house projects and the occasional mall theater fair for the discriminating cinephile. We predict that most of these films will be the core of many deep discussions throughout the year and we also predict that many will be featured on the film fest circuit.

Enjoy the next 5 days..we broke the countdown into five manageable chunks (Monday 100-81, Tuesday 80-61, Wednesday 60-41, Thursday 40-21 and Friday 20 to 1) and look for some exclusive set pics on a selected few titles….Enjoy the list!
