McAvoy Flexes Comedic Muscles for Cancer

I’m not sure how quickly audiences need to follow up Judd Apatow’s Funny People, story about a comedian who is given a death sentence starring Seth Rogen, with I’m With Cancer called by EW a “40 Year Old Virgin with Chemo” and also starring Rogen. Blacklist top ten finalist of 2008 and written by Will Reiser (a producer for “Da Ali G Show”), Variety reports that Nicole Holofcener will direct the pic and James McAvoy will be the one with the disease. You know that Catherine Keener isn’t far behind.

It appears that this might have been the project that McAvoy jumped ship for in place of The Details, here he plays a 25-year-old who learns he has cancer and successfully battles the disease over several years. Character is based on the real experiences of screenwriter Will Reiser, who won his own fight with cancer in his mid-20s. Filming beings in January, which could potentially coincide with a Sundance premiere for her latest project, Please Give

Rogen and Evan Goldberg are producing. Ben Karlin, Reiser and Mandate’s Nathan Kahane will exec produce and Tendo Nagenda will co-produce.
