Palm’s sweaty for Japanese softcore flick

Sex and politics don’t mix. Just ask Bill Clinton. But if you are Japenese then the combo is not all that abstract. Glad to see that the acquistation folks over at Palm Pictures are still up and about – adding one upcoming title to their spring slate – THR mentions that the indie label distributor has acquired North American rights to Meike Mitsuru's political and sexual satire.

To be released in theaters in early April, The Glamorous Life of Sachiko Hanai centers on a Japanese call girl who gets caught up in international intrigue. In the film, the title character gets shot in the head after a fight breaks out at her sexual role-playing club, allowing her to “understand foreign languages and solve complex mathematic formulas,” according to the official plot line. She discovers a finger cut from the American president in her pocket and is soon using her newfound powers to stop evil forces from “pushing the button” to start worldwide nuclear war.

I had a very vague idea of what this subgenre was, and if you are like me (curious about the world) a quick Wikipedia search produced this result:
a style of Japanese softcore pornographic films. Films of this genre first appeared in the early 1960s, were particularly popular in the 1970s and 1980s and are still being produced. The term pinku eiga was coined by journalist Minoru Murai. Pink films should be distinguished from adult videos and non-Japanese sexploitation films.
