Shannon Will Be Among the ‘Greatest’

Date:

Following his roles in Bug, Shotgun Stories and the upcoming Revolutionary Roads, Michael Shannon‘s leading man potential is escalating with no signs of stopping soon. According to THR, Shannon will be joining the cast of the indie drama The Greatest, directed by Shana Feste. Feste was recently placed among Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film.” This will be her first feature…and probably not her last.

Shannon will be joining Carey Mulligan, who will be starring as a troubled teenager who throws herself into a family trying to get over loss of their teenage son Bennett, which Aaron Johnson has been cast as. Shannon will be playing Bennett’s friend. Mulligan is relatively new to the bigscreen, but has big plans lined up. She with be featured in the Nick Hornby-based film An Education, Jim Sheridan’s war drama Brothers which stars Natalie Portman, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Tobey Maquire, and Michael Mann’s Public Enemies, featuring a much-anticipated joining of Christian Bale and Johnny Depp (lucky girl).  Also cast in ‘Greatest’ are Zoe Kravitz and Johnny Simmons, who will be appearing in the Diablo Cody penned Jennifer’s Body.

Carrying out the adult leads will be Pierce Brosnan and Susan Sarandon. Brosnon will be serving as exec producer as well, with his Irish DreamTime Productions shingle and Silverwood FIlms are co-producing. The Greatest is currently lensing and set for release next year.
