Spielberg Sharing Secrets with Diablo Cody

Date:

Steven Spielberg just has too many ideas for his own good.  According to Variety, the filmmaking powerhouse has shared yet another idea with Oscar-winning scribe Diablo Cody. The Juno writer will be penning a super-secret untitled comedy for DreamWorks, based off of Spielberg’s cinematic musings. Cody’s Showtime series, “The United States of Tara,” which she is exec producing, was also based off of an original Spielberg idea. The sitcom stars Toni Collette and John Corbett and is currently in pilot stage.

Cody first got Spielberg’s attention when Mandate Pictures was in search of a domestic distributer for her teen pregnancy blockbuster. Spielberg reportedly even considered directing the pic.

Cody’s sophomore project, Jennifer’s Body, is currently in post-production and set for wide-release next year. The dark comedy/horror pic has been compared to the Heathers, featuring a cheerleader possessed by a demon, who then feeds odd of boy around town. Megan Fox will be playing the lead, with Amanda Seyfried as the heroic best friend who saves the day.

As for Spielberg, keep your eyes peeled for Jurassic Park IV (that’s right) in 2009, which he is exec producing. Spielberg is also directing a biopic about President Lincoln starring Liam Neelson and Sally Field.
