Added to the already cast Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield, Mark Romanek and his latest feature film project Never Let Me Go (will go into production for the following nine weeks) has rounded out the cast with veteran European actress Nathalie Richard, vets Charlotte RamplingSally Hawkins, and the next “it” girl of British Film in Andrea Riseborough. Following in her bit role in Mike Leigh’s and her co-star Hawkins’ Happy-Go-Lucky, Riseborough (see pic) is apparently the next best thing according on the other side of the Atlantic if you take into consideration her television perfs of last year (here are her creds). She’ll be poised to grab some more attention with this supporting/secondary role, in a the long awaited sophomore feature from Romanek. Oddly enough, after a strong Sundance showing of her form, Mulligan who is also starring in this picture is considered by many, including myself, as the current “it” girl of 2009.

DNA Films, Fox Searchlight Pictures and Film4 began principle photography on the picture today – the synopsis describes the screenplay as “a poignant love story, adapted from Kazuo Ishiguro’s bestselling, Booker Prize short listed novel of the same name. As children, Ruth (Keira Knightley), Kathy (Carey Mulligan) and Tommy (Andrew Garfield), spend their childhood at a seemingly idyllic English boarding school. As they grow into young adults, they find that they have to come to terms with the strength of the love they feel for each other, while preparing themselves for the haunting reality that awaits them”.
