The Fantastic Mr. Cocker

If you didn’t already have enough reasons to go see Wes Anderson‘s much-anticipated take on stop motion animation- here’s another!  According to Pitchfork, indie rocker Jarvis Cocker is going to be lending his voice to Anderson’s upcoming adaptation of the Roald Dahl classic, The Fantastic Mr. Fox.  Cocker is sure to add an interesting twist to Anderson’s take on this children’s tale.

In an interview with Time Out Chicago (conducted by former Pitchfork contributor Brent DiCrescenzo), Jarvis reveals that he’s written “three, four songs, and some of that might become bits of the score” for the film…Cocker got on the subject following a line of questioning about his skepticism towards the Disney corporation, which he explored in the song “Disney Time” from his debut LP. “If you criticize Disney,” Cocker points out, “the next step is ‘do better.’ I get the chance to do it myself and corrupt young minds.”

Cocker is and English musician most well known as the frontman for the band Pulp.  He was one of the main players of the Britpop movement during the mid-90s.  This won’t be the first soundtrack for the musician, as Cocker contributed to the soundtrack for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Children of Men.

Mr Fox is currently lensing, with a release date set for November 6, 2009.  George Clooney and Cate Blanchett will be lending their voices as Mr. and Mrs. Fox, with Anderson-regulars Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman and Angelica Houston also is featured roles.
