This week’s Eye Candy: Mark Palansky

Date:

In a long career filmmaking career those behind the camera often make the leap onto other filmmaking platforms such as short films, video work, long form commercials, etc. Whether they are a newcomer or seasoned veteran, every Saturday we feature a filmmaker with an accompanying sample of their work. This week IONCINEMA.com’s Eye Candy personality of the week is …

Mark Palansky might not be a household name, but the majority of the films he worked on were titan film productions. He was a second unit director for The Island and The Amityville Horror and did some Super 8 footage for another Michael Bay’s Pearl Harbor. Featured at this year’s TIFF, Mark Palansky’s directorial debut just got picked up by IFC Films. Penelope tells the story about a young woman who must break a family curse and find true love. James McAvoy will play the title character’s love interest, O’Hara and Grant her parents. Dinklage plays a photographer obsessed with photographing the title character, who’s been cursed with the face of a pig. His first film was a 2001 short film called The Same starring Josh Hartnett.
