TIFF 08: Yes Madam, Sir

Date:

First film of my fest was Yes Madam, Sir, an in the moment, poignant docu obviously part of TIFF’s Real to Reel section that played to a surprisingly packed house – perhaps it’s because Toronto patrons are used to the doc format with HotDocs playing earlier in the year. Both the Aussie director (who makes her money editing films such as the LOTR trilogy) and her film’s subject, the small in stature, but the bigger than life Kiran Bedi were on hand to show of the world premiere. Filmed over the course of six years, the doc collects tons of footage showing how Bedi became a staple of Indian society. Thank god she put down that tennis racquet.
