Sam Mendes Oscar 2009

#13. Revolutionary Road

Director:
Sam Mendes
Writers: Justin Haythe (The Clearing)

Producers: Bobby Cohen, John Hart, Scott Rudin and Mendes
DistributorDreamWorks Pictures

The Gist: Based on the acclaimed 1961 novel by Richard Yates, and scripted by Justin Haythe, this is a heart-rending and bleak tome, celebrated for its storytelling style, follows a seemingly happy suburban couple with two children in the mid-1950s who find themselves caught between their true desires and the pressure to conform — with explosive consequences.

Fact: This is the first film collaboration between Kate Winslet and husband Sam Mendes.

See It: This reunion between Leo DiCaprio and Winslet should get rid of the good awful taste left in our mouths from Titanic and could be the role where Leo finally wins Oscar. Roger Deakins is the DOP!

Release Date/Status?: Dreamworks will release this with much Oscar nom fanfare on December 19th.
