Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2008: #51 Shotgun Stories

Date:

Shotgun Stories 2008

#51. Shotgun Stories

Director/Writer:
Jeff Nichols
Producers: David Gordon Green (Great World of Sound), Lisa Muskat (Snow Angels) and Nichols
Distributor: Liberation Entertainment

The Gist: Son Hayes never speaks of the scars on his back. The
shotgun pellets left under his skin make for a sporadic pattern of blue-black
dots. The men he works with take bets on how he got them. His brothers, Boy and
Kid Hayes, don’t discuss it. His past, just like these scars, is never far
behind him. This stands true for the memory of his father, a man that never
bothered to give his children proper names…

Fact: Nichols was the production manager for Margaret Brown’s Be Here to Love Me: A
Film About Townes Van Zandt
.

See It: You’d usually find a film like this at Sundance – but instead: it received international film festival recognition all over the world and won awards at the Austin, Newport and Seattle film fests and the FIPRESCI PRIZE 2007 at the Viennale.

Release Date/Status?: March 26th in limited run.
