Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2008: #92 Charlie Bartlett

Date:

Charlie Bartlett top 100

#92. Charlie Bartlett

Director:
Jon Poll
Writers: Gustin  Nash

Producers: William Horberg, Barron Kidd, Sidney Kimmel, David Permut, Jay Roach
Distributor: MGM

The Gist: Among the classic high-school rebels of American movies, there have been truants, delinquents, pranksters and con artists – but there has never been anyone quite like Charlie Bartlett.

Fact: Poll started his career in film via editing: he worked on the “Austin Powers” films and “Meet the Parents” twosome.

See It: I caught this at a film festival and found that it was one of the rare teen comedies that doesn’t speak down to its intended audience. Yelchin and cast of other actors are a fun bunch to watch on screen.

Release Date/Status?: Because of its bluntness, openess and the MPAA complicating matters, MGM had to re-think the release strategy and push back the Tribeca film almost a full year. Wide release coming February 22nd.
