#80. Hyde Park on Hudson

Director: Roger Michell
Writer: Richard Nelson
Producers: David Aukin and Kevin Loader (Wuthering Heights)
Distributor: Focus Features

The Gist: Based on Richard Nelson’s own radio play, in June 1939, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (Bill Murray) and his wife Eleanor (Olivia Williams) host the King and Queen of England (Samuel West and Olivia Colman) for a weekend at the Roosevelt home at Hyde Park on Hudson, in upstate New York – the first-ever visit of a reigning English monarch to America. Cast: Bill Murray, Laura Linney, Olivia Williams, Olivia Colman and Samuel West

List Worthy Reasons…: While Roger Michell has a spotty record (The Mother and the first 8 minutes of Enduring Love are his best in the past decade) we are stoked about seeing Bill Murray toplining as FDR, it should be a blast to see his interpretation of the president during the enchantment phase. Worth noting on the tech side is the involvement of DP Lol Crawley (Better Things/Ballast).

Release Date/Status?: We figure that Focus will decide on a 3rd or 4th quarter showing plus a festival premiere.
