#8. Boldly going where no other “Kaufman” film has gone before – it might not have the visual flair of Kaufman-based material adaptations Being John Malkovich, ESOTSM and Adaptation, but I was floored by the originality of the script, the scope and size of the ideas that perforated the screen. I had pegged this gastronomical feast for the mind as my most anticipated film to see in 08’ and my first viewing at Cannes was like I had suffered some form of whiplash – too much matter for one seating. My Kinder Surprise for 09 will be the DVD copy of the film — there I can peel back the layers on my 4th, 5th, 6th….viewings.
