#9 . I caught Ramin Bahrani’s sophomore film back in 2007 at the Director’s Fortnight section in Cannes – it confirmed what we witnessed with his first film Man Push Cart: sometimes the best film narrative come in small packages. I was enamored by the film’s young protagonist, the unique setting and Bahrani’s style which reminds me of some of the classic films from the neorealist era and basically anything that attempts to fit realism in film narratives that make you care. FYI: the indie filmmaker only raises the bar with his next film (Goodbye Solo).
