 8. THE INFORMANT! (U.S. Theatrical Poster)

Distributor: Warner Bros.
Tagline: un-believ-able
Comments: The look on Matt Damon’s face is the first thing I noticed, then that slight glow around it that made me think of the one-sheet (view) for Judd Apatow’s The 40 Year-Old Virgin. The hair, glasses and mustache hints at both the characters overall dorkiness and that the film possibly takes place sometime in the 80s (early 90’s in fact). Equally hilarious is the giant-sized “unbelievable” hyphenated along the top, overlapping his face, and the exclamation point in the title. Perfect, we’re dealing with a stupid informant who’s in over his head… I want to know more! The often used giant-head generally screams cop-out (but if you have a movie star like Damon in your movie I suppose it’s a no-brainer), but here’s proof that you can create something great when designers embrace that challenge.

Except Cinderella was an actress with a blond wig and Marjane is the real woman behind her autobiographical graphic novel, turned movie, “Persepolis”. The distinctive mole on her nose and her dark sultry eyes rose off the page and appeared in front of me, smoking and speaking with a French accent.
