Zwigoff directing NLine’s The $40,000 Man

Date:

I'm curious to see how the filmmaker behind Art School Confidential, Bad Santa, Ghost World and Crumb might tackle material that comes to us in spoof form. Variety reports that Terry Zwigoff has signed onto New Line's
The $40,000 Man. Zwigoff is rewriting the script with his partner Daniel Clowes.

Based on the spec from John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, this spoofs the 6 Million Dollar Man, and takes the narrative template of a legendary astronaut and true American hero who finds himself horribly injured in a car accident and rebuilt by the government to be a bionic man, but on a budget of $40,000 — which makes him not all that bionic.

Chris Bender and JC Spink are producing; Jake Weiner exec produces.
