It was a big weekend for foreign films such as Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives that picked up a promising $8,036 average in three locations. “Boonmee” is a drama from Thailand and took home last year’s Best Foreign Language Film award from the Toronto Film Critics Association and of course, won the top prize in Cannes.
Next week, the Sundance Film Festival will release about 100+ titles that are the make up of their upcoming edition and this can only mean one thing: this past week was the official nail-biting, living next to the phone type of deal for several first time filmmakers.
We have year end favorite film lists, we have decade lists, but my favorite list of all is the Black List. Now in year 5, the annual list of the most popular unproduced screenplays voted by script readers who 9 times out of 10 are forced to read utter crap, will soon be unveiled - I suggest you check out the twitter feed for updates. As the votes are being tallied up, I thought we'd go back one year and see where we were at with the top 15 projects of the list.
