Israel’s next big director left quite the impression on the fest circuit notably at fests such as Locarno and NYFF with Policeman (Corinth Releasing will hopefully throw this into circulation this year). The good news is, his sophomore film appears to be past the financing stages or at least receiving coin from various sources and with its unique narrative, the buzz from his previous title, I imagine it won’t be too difficult to put a cast in place in a short time span. Could be the next We Need to Talk About Kevin for the intense bond beyond mother and child.

Gist: In a world that does not appreciate artists, where sensitive souls don’t stand a chance, a poetry-loving kindergarten teacher discovers a poetic child. She decides to take it upon herself to nurture him, to save his greatness from the world, to salvage him from the banal, the mediocre and the crude – to save him from life itself. It is the story of a female Don Quixote, who strives to save the world through the poetry of a child, and of a pensive child who has no desire to be saved.

Release Date: With no cast in place, in order for us to get a glimpse of this it will need to get begin lensing fairly soon. If so, perhaps a return visit to Locarno is in the realms of possibilities.
